Doctor's Ayurvedic Advice:-

Depression is more common in women due to the harmonal changes and this triggers the symptoms. It affects the daily living with difficulty to sleep, lack of appetite or interest, concentration problem, low energy levels and unexplained body pain. The intensity of the symptoms varies in each person and so does the treatment.

She has been prescribed antipsychotics and medicine to prevent osteoporosis. Based on the symptoms, she can continue with the medicines to reduce the symptoms. Sometimes benefits will be able to reduce the symptoms which is better than the side effects. But it is not going to cure the problem. So emotional support, proper nutrition, exercise, reducing stress, hobbies, laughter will help to feel better.

Ayurvedic medicines like Sarasvata aristam and Manasamitram Vati - 1tablet twice daily after food can be taken for 3months and then reviewed. Ayurvedic treatments like Oil massages, Pizhichal, Poultices, Shirodhara, Nasyam, Shiro vasti are highly beneficial. Counselling along with a good support from the doctor will help to reduce the symptoms.

Include healthy food with avocados, green tea, cinnamon, ghee, garlic, whole grains, dark chocolate, olives, spinach and pomegranate. Practise Meditation, Pranayamam, Yogasana which will improve the energy levels and self confidence.
