Doctor's Ayurvedic Advice:-

Hello Sir,

Epilepsy is completely related to central nervous system. In your son’s case, he is suffering from epilepsy from birth and at present this condition also can be termed as juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. In Ayurveda Epilepsy of any type is considered as Apasmara and there is detailed explanation in Ayurveda and in which there are some treatments which are indicated during attacks and also when there is no typical attacks, that means he needs Ayurvedic medicine for long period and moreover it is not safer to stop allopath medications all of a sudden. There is time line for the same. Example, if your kid is not getting attacks for more than 6 years continuously, then doctors can take chance to discontinue the medicine or stop the medication. In ayruveda, to prevent attacks repeatedly, these medicines are helpful and these medicines are helpful in balancing central nervous system as well as endocrine system. Following Package Medicine for Epilepsy that contains combination of medicines which you can start giving your child. There is herbal decoction called Medha Kwatha which you need to take 4 grams and boil in 300 ml of water and reduce it to 80 ml and give him 40 ml twice daily after food and also there are 5 types of herbal and Rasa Preparations which has to be mixed properly and divided into 60 equal parts and this can be given only one dose per day with honey in morning time and also Medha Vati provided in pack should be given one tablet once daily after dinner.

It is better to take him to Ayurvedic doctor for complete assessment for the present condition and then you can even start these medicines.

Epilepsy is due to the neurological deficit in the brain causing unprovoked seizures. As mentioned, it is seen in some children due to the trauma during the birth. There is a risk of speech problem in kids as the symptoms depend on the location of the area that causes seizures. So the seizures which starts in the temporal and frontal lobe of the left hemisphere increases the risk of speech problems.

Ayurvedic medicines like Sarasvata aristam and Kalyanaka ghrtam - 1tsp before food twice daily can be given for a month along with the Allopathy medicines and then reviewed. Pancha karma treatments like shirodhara, shiro vasti and nasyam are also effective.

Include complex carbohydrates, berries, pomegranates, celery, ginger and garlic. Reduce excess oil, sugar, canned foods, salt and cold refrigerated foods. Avoid skipping meals and advise him to eat at regular intervals. Enrolling in yoga classes will also be beneficial.
